At Gerald McShane School we are committed to making learning an enriching experience. The staff is dedicated to fostering academic excellence through the development of the whole student: intellectually, physically, and socially. We also emphasize the importance of friendship; we instill in our students a sense of belonging and provide them with a positive learning environment to motivate them to achieve their own personal success. Gerald McShane School is located at 6111 Maurice Duplessis in Montreal North. Its present population is 310 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The school hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. with daycare services available in the morning and afterschool until 6:00 p.m. Students residing within the Gerald McShane territory are entitled to receive school bus transportation services. If you wish to visit the school or learn more about our programs, activities, and services, you may call (514) 321-1100 and schedule an appointment with the school principal who will be delighted to show you the school and answer all your questions. |

 Taking photographs of the first day back to school was a priority for parents bringing their children to Gerald McShane Elementary School today.
Outside in the schoolyard, teachers holding grade level posters grouped children, carrying their backpacks and new school supplies, in front of them while school Principal Mrs. Evelyne Alfonsi welcomed students back to school. Education Minister Mme Line Beauchamp, EMSB Director General Mr. Robert Stocker, EMSB Chairman Mrs. Angela Mancini, EMSB Deputy Director General Mrs. Roma Medwid, EMSB Region 1 Director Mrs. Marzia Michielli and EMSB Vice-Chairman / Commissioner Mrs. Sylvia Lo Bianco were there to show support for students, teachers and the community and to welcome the new Minister of Education. “Everybody was happy to be back to school to see their friends,” Mrs. Alfonsi said. “It was a fun day. I love seeing the happy faces on the kids in every classroom. It was a very, very positive day.” School secretary, Mrs. Rita Fuoco, who was celebrating her 29th birthday, was honored with a cake and a round of "Happy Birthday to You" by school staff. ->  Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 First day of school for Grades 1-6 -> Wednesday, September 1 & Thursday, September 2, 2010 Kindergarten Progressive Entry Full bus service, lunch program and daycare services will begin as of this date. Students that meet the distance criteria should have already received their bus passes via the mail. All other accommodation bussing students that came to pickup their accommodation bus passes may take the bus as of the first day of school. There are still a number of accommodation passes waiting to be picked up at the office, if you do not have your bus pass, you will not have bussing. Please contact the office to make an appointment at 514-321-1100. Yard supervision begins at 7:45 am and entry at 7:55 am. Any students that are late, will need to pass by the office to pickup a late slip prior to proceeding to class. Please provide your child with their school supplies as of the first day as the teachers are ready to begin the work immediately. Also please provide your child with a lunch as the Hot Lunch Program with Le Doral begins only as of September 13, 2010. All school forms must be completed and returned to the school via your child. As well all activity & agenda and lunch or daycare fees. All students are expected to be in full uniform as per the Gerald McShane dress code. Also please note that afternoon busses on Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 will be departing from boulevard Maurice-Duplessis and not the arena parking lot. This is for that afternoon only. Registration is still taking place for our private Pre-K program which is new this year to Gerald McShane. Please call 514.504.1364 for additional information. The following is to advise that the hot lunch menu for September from Le Doral is now available for download on our website by clicking on the Le Doral logo on our home page. Students will receive their order forms via their homeroom teacher. Orders can also be placed online directly with Le Doral. A link is also available on our home page. Order Forms & Payment must be submitted no later than September 6, 2010 at the School's Front Office. Online orders must be placed no later than September 8, 2010. Please note that hot lunches commence as of Monday, September 13, 2010. |
